Three People Killed, Multiple Injuries Reported In Fiery 50+ Vehicle Crash On I-81

More than 50 vehicles were involved in a northbound crash that left three people dead on Interstate 81 on Monday, March 28 in Pennsylvania, authorities said.

The three fatalities were reported by the Pottsville Republican-Herald and the Independent both citing Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Al Barnes.

Several vehicles were on fire and closed the roadway, which remained shut as of 4 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Boehm said. 

Multiple injuries were also reported.

The crash stretched from Exit 116 to PA 901 Minersville and Exit 119 to Highridge Park Road on Monday, Mar. 28 around 11 a.m., according to PennDOT.

The crash was due to a snow squall, authorities say.
